I worked at Oracle as an Advanced Site Support Engineer supporting Oracle’s SL8500 libraries and their attendant VSM5 systems. We also covered M-series and X3-series servers.

SLA’s were very tight and had severe penalties running to thousands of pounds for a miss and an escalator beyond that. A failure could run up tens of thousands of pounds very quickly which is why the site was shift based. Five people covered the site 24x7.

I was TUPE’d into Oracle from Phoenix but my service record says I was at Oracle for nearly five years. I developed Perl scripts to process SL8500 and VSM logfiles looking for errors.

The slideshow to the right is the training SL8500 at GMP - SUN’s main site in the south-east in late 2009.
